" In the beginning of change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for it then costs nothing to be a patriot. " -Mark Twain
Road and bridge repair must be one of our top priorities!
Affordable energy is needed now! Runaway energy costs must be stopped!
I oppose a National ID and the warehousing of our children’s DNA.We must stop the erosion of our liberties and freedoms we hold dear to us!
All health care, and Kindegarten through college expenses should be 100 percent tax deductable. We need fair and equitable statewide funding in education.
Support free-market based healthcare that allows insurance companies to compete in Minnesota. Bill supports easing the restrictions on the types of policies sold here, and allow for tailored policies to meet the needs of all Minnesotans more effectively.
I am a firm believer in a free market health care system. Deregulation of the health care system in Minnesota is a must. We are limited as Minnesotans in our choices of insurance providers within this State. I believe we should have the right to buy health insurance from any insurance company we want. More choices create more competition, which lowers prices.
I would like to see uniform records for insurance companies within Minnesota. Every insurance company has an abundance of different forms. After consulting with doctors as well as medical records personnel on this issue, I have learned that if all insurance companies used the same forms, record keeping costs could be reduced from 33% to as much as 50%. This savings could be passed on to consumers.
100% of all health care costs must be tax deductible. To get a deduction for medical costs on a federal tax form, a person practically has to go bankrupt. The great state of Minnesota must lead the way on this issue!
Minnesota Health Care Coverage
Minnesota taxpayers are quite generous in funding public health programs compared to other states ranking #6 in per capita spending. Minnesota is tops in the nation in health coverage, and is also considered the healthiest state for affordability and accessibility. Minnesota’s best rate of uninsured fell from 7.7% in 2004 to 7.2% in 2007.
• 374,000 were uninsured in 2007.
• However, more than half (over 200,000) are income eligible for state healthcare programs.
• Another 85,000 are illegal aliens-eligible for state healthcare programs.
• Another 80,000 above 300% of federal income guidelines choose not to be insured.
• Minnesota’s uninsured problem pales in comparison to the urgent problem of health care costs that affect us all.
Single Payer System in Canada
• No financial incentives exist for provider productivity; government sets prices.
• Four million Canadians are without a family physician; 12% use emergency rooms.
• Health care is rationed; patients wait 18.3 weeks for surgery or therapy.
• MRI’s for breast cancer see an average wait of 168 days.
• CAT scans/MRI technology is rationed; patients wait average of 5-10 weeks.
• Pharmaceutical research is limited; less selection of medication.
• Supplemental coverage is necessary to expedite treatment.
• Taxes are 40% higher in Canada
• Work productivity is lower due to delayed medical care and slower recovery times.
